Floundering for social media content? Need to plaice consistent posts? Here are content prompts for August, which (if you hadn’t guessed) is international Fishing Month 2021 (24th July to 30th August 2021). These content prompts could be the hook you need to entice visitors to your business, and they will help you remain consistent with your social media posts (I’ll stop trying to fit in the angling references). I also send out a monthly newsletter and if you would like a boost take a look at my services including my free spotlight call.
Throughout the pandemic it has been important to remain consistent with your posts, and now that restrictions are easing it is still important to keep it up. If you want to shine online, consistently posting quality content is the way to do it.
England moved into Step 4 on 19th July 2021. There will be no limit on how many people can attend hospitality settings or venues with no legal requirement to physically distance or wear a mask, though individuals should “still consider the risks of close contact with others” and are advised to “wear a mask”. You may want to share content about your approach during this Step. While the message from central Government has been muddy at best, you can provide clear and concise information to reassure your customers the precautions you are providing to support the vulnerable in your community. Devolved governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will make announcements soon.
If your business is based in Yorkshire or you service the biggest county in England (uniting North, South, West and East Riding), then you should already have Yorkshire Day in your diary for 1st August 2021. Every business has something it can share about Yorkshire, it might appeal to hospitality and tourism businesses though every sector can be found in Yorkshire.
Childcare and entertainment businesses can be playful on 4th August 2021 for Playday, when children are encouraged to get involved in their local community events. Community organisations could also use the day to promote their activities, like the Friends of Hainsworth Park in west Leeds who launched a fundraiser to improve their local playground.
Cycling businesses, ready your pedals, 5th August 2021 will be Cycle To Work Day. Share information on keeping safe while commuting, do a Reel on IG about cycle maintenance, or just write about the wellbeing benefits of cycling.
There’s not much to say, sharing content about your animals can be evergreen content. International Cat Day returns on 8th August 2021 (though the way cats behave, everyday is international cat day). Here’s my sidekick – Mr Fish, he usually generates more engagement than me and my kids combined.
Garden centres have an opportunity to share information on their top tips for gardeners during National Allotment Week from 9th August 2021. Caterers and cafes fear not, also starting on 9th August 2021 will be Afternoon Tea Week. Wine retailers and hospitality businesses, you can crack open the bubbly during International Prosecco Day on 13th August 2021.
Hospitality businesses have an opportunity to share a little Christmas 2020 joy with Northern Christmas Week from 16th August 2021. It is an opportunity for businesses in the North to have a proper Christmas celebration which was missed due to Covid-19.
