And just like that – we are halfway through the year! How’s your content planning coming along?
The lockdown announcement wasn’t quite as hoped but at least we didn’t go backwards. The weather switches between glorious sunny summer and windy, cloudy days. Thank goodness it’s been more of the former in the last few weeks and people seem to be going nuts about some blokes kicking a ball round a field?!
One thing always remains the same – there’s so many opportunities to promote your business by creating fabulous, timely content connected to awareness days.
Keep posting content regularly, engage with those who engage with your posts. Remember – social media not self media, be social. Feed that algorithm.

Kicking the month of July off will be National Picnic Month starting 1st July 2021,who doesn’t love a picnic, especially when there’s fizzy wine involved. More eating al fresco with National BBQ Week 2nd July to 11th July 2021, let’s hope the rain stays away. Try and cut down on your packaging and use wooden cutlery if you need it at all as it is also Plastic Free July.
Health and social care businesses have an opportunity to show off their best practices during Good Care Month beginning 1st July 2021, as well as the #GladToCare Awareness Week from 5th July 2021. International Kissing Day will be puckering up on 6th July 2021, followed by World Chocolate Day on 7th July 2021. Is there a correlation? I’ll have an Orange Twirl or Malteasers please. If you want to sweet talk my VA, National Doughnut Week (10th July to 18th July 2021) is the time to do it. Glazed, ring, with plenty of sprinkles. Caterers and bakers can show their wares and support the Children’s Trust too.
Tourism and hospitality business, the CBA Festival of Archaeology is starting 11th July 2021. Is there a fantastic ruin or fabulous castle nearby? How about a blue plaque with notable connections? Share it and show off your local history. There’s plenty in my local area, I love spotting them.
Lifestyle organisers and coaches, join in with National Simplicity Day on 12th July 2021. The same day is the start of Love Parks Week in the UK. While Covid-19 has had a negative impact on our businesses and mental health, the availability of green outdoor space has literally been a saver for many people.
If you are a subscriber to my socials or newsletter, you’ll remember I mentioned the appropriate use of emojis. World Emoji Day is 17th July 2021. A well used emoji can look good, though make sure you don’t over do it. Certainly for social media, part of your audience will be using accessibility tools that might not communicate your message as you imagine it reads 🌻
