Well…in my opinion it varies hugely depending on your audience and their online habits. But if you’re not sure where to start this is a good place The latest annual report analysing this data from Sprout Social is out now, and if you would like to read a more details breakdown you can do so here.
I’ve picked out the headlines by platform – because I’m good like that.
According to Sprout’s data, the best times to post to Facebook in 2023 are:
- Mondays from 8am to 1pm
- Tuesdays from 8 am to 2 pm
- Wednesdays from 8 am to 1 pm
- Thursdays from 8 am to noon
So mornings are better, according to response rates, while weekdays perform better than weekends.
The best times to post to IG are:
- Mondays from 10 am to noon
- Tuesdays from 9 am to 1 pm
- Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm
- Fridays from 9am to 11 am
On both Facebook and Instagram, Sundays are the worst days for engagement – but…it could be an opportunity to get seen if others aren’t posting on Sundays. I have always found Sunday teatime quite a popular time across these two platforms.
Mornings are the best time to tweet. 9am to midday, from Tuesday to Friday, sees the most overall tweet engagement.
Twitter is a funny old place at the moment, Mr Musk doesn’t seem to quite have a handle on the direction yet. In my experience it works well for anyone working in the third party sector – I personally do not have a Twitter account.
When it comes to LinkedIn, Sprout says that Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 am to noon are the best posting times and to avoid weekends. I would agree with the mornings part but I try to post pre 10am for best results, see what works for you.
TikTok
My nemesis! Tuesday to Thursday, after 2pm, and before 6pm, sees the most engagement – which fits in with a younger crowd and the post school/college uni time. I still feel TikTok is very much a younger audience and you can’t be everywhere – I choose not to be on TikTok.
If you want to see the stats for other platforms it’s all in the full report, but remember, you need to see what works for you and keep monitoring it constantly as online habits are fickle.
