There’s lots going on during March and the first signs of Spring will start to appear, the weather might start to warm up. Easter (chocolate for breakfast) happens the first weekend of April, if your business is seasonal then you’ll already have your Spring campaign carefully planned… right?
Just in case… here’s some handy content prompts to weave through your content.
Mothering Sunday takes place on 14th March 2021, there’s lots of opportunities for content. Mother’s (and Father’s) Day can be a difficult day for some of us, me included – last year I took part in this blog to highlight the rise of Others Day. Lots of us have lost loved ones this year and everything feels a bit more magnified, perhaps considering offering an email opt out for those who it might be a trigger for.
20th March 2021 sees the International Day of Happiness. The UN created the day in 2013 to recognise the importance of happiness in people’s lives. Spring Equinox will also be on the 20th March 2021 – the promise of warmer weather, lighter mornings and evenings is always something to be happy about.
Welsh-based businesses, whatever you do you should share your content on 1st March 2021, St David’s Day. Leisure activities share the joys of the landscape, caterers show off your Welsh recipes, bakers post your laverbread and Welsh Cakes. Florists demonstrate your daffodil bouquets. Speaking of daffodils, Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal runs all month from 1st March 2021. Did you know that daffodils are my second favourite flower?
Businesses and organisations in Cornwall can raise awareness for the county on St Piran’s Day 5th March. Mid-March also sees the return of St Patrick’s Day on 17th March 2021 – the celebrations will be different again this year – Zoom Guinness anyone?
Butchers, bakers, caterers, show off your pies during National Pie Week (from 1st March 2021). Everyone thinks they know which the best pie is but for me it’s got to be from Bentleys of Pudsey (and I’m not normally a pie person). While we are on the topic of butchers National Butchers Week 2021 starts on 8th March 2021 (it’s also, the start of Spam Appreciation Week, if that’s your bag). In a vast contrast to Spam… World Salt Awareness Week also begins 8th March 2021. All food-related businesses could get on board with this year’s theme is ‘More Flavour, Less Salt!’.
A couple of literary days this month World Book Day is 4th March 2021 and World Poetry Day is 21st March 202, I’m guessing I won’t be searching for a costume for WBD this year?! I think I’ll miss it. My favourite all time book is Wuthering Heights, my favourite recent read is Girl A and as a child I loved Charlotte’s Web and Worst Witch books. Passing my love of reading onto my daughter makes me fall in love with books all over again.
Child carers, young children’s organisations, and nurseries can get involved in Programming for Primaries from 5th March 2021. The campaign hopes to shine a spotlight on support and resources available for children to get involved in programming. Without programming there would be no blog, website or internet, I hope all children learn basic programming. On the same day Healthcare Science Week and British Science Week will start in the UK.
International Women’s Day is also 8th March 2021. While focusing on the achievements of women across the globe, the day also provides an opportunity to examine the process towards unity, equality, and advocacy. I am proud and honoured to know so many amazing women – may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.*
Pets always get loads of engagement and one of the highlights of my year is Crufts which takes place between 11th-14th March 2021. I’m sure like most things it will be a different type of celebration this year, but I can still indulge in cute doggos! My favourite part is when they don’t do what they should.
