5 Ways to be More Consistent in Your Business
Whether you like it or not, consistency is where the magic happens. If you want to reap rewards, make progress and really get results chances are you have to do something consistently. If you want to train for a marathon or get fit – you have to work out consistently. If you want to write a book, you need to write consistently. If you want to get good at anything, you need to do it consistently, but the thing is that although all of this sounds great on paper, doing things consistently can be … well hard work! In fact, so often what can happen is that we start a task with great intentions, and then something happens …
Self doubt kicks in – “Am I doing the right thing? Am I annoying people? Is once enough?”
We get bored – “I have to do this again?”
We get new ideas – “I’ll do this instead!”
We get busy – “I’ll do it tomorrow”…. and then before you know it a month has gone by.
And then…you guessed it…whatever you were working towards is either much slower to materialise, or worse still…is never going to happen.
But I’m here to tell you that consistency is worth the effort especially when it comes to your business success.
By doing things consistently, like marketing, you start to build up momentum. People start to recognise you for your services, and they start to spot you much more easily in the crowd.
So, if you struggle with doing things consistently, have a go at these 5 tips:
1. Decide what you want to do…and WHY?
Be strategic and decide what specifically you want to do consistently, and more importantly why you want to do it. What are the benefits? What results are you hoping to see? How will you measure it? By putting all of this thought in place before you start you’ll know exactly where you’re heading.
2. Set yourself a challenge
Starting anything new and sticking to it can be tricky, so make a challenge of it. Decide how often you want to complete your task in the next 30 days and go for it! It’ll really help to keep you focused.
3. Do it first
Do your task first before you get sucked into anything else on your to do list. Before your e-mails, social media….even before your first coffee!! By doing this, it’ll be out of the way, and so much easier to remember – plus you’ll feel amazingly productive for the rest of the day.
4. Get accountability
Accountability really does work a treat, so share your goal with the people around you, whether that’s your team, friends or business buddies – ask them to help keep you on track.
5. Write down the benefits
By making a note of the value that it’s actually having on you and your business, it’ll spur you on to keep going and your brain will soon realise that this task is really beneficial and something you should absolutely keep going.
